Your Kid Isn't Bad. They're Just Overstimulated.

It wasn't a bad kid moment. It was a too-much moment. There's a difference.
Summer removes all the structure that helps kids regulate. No bell schedule. No predictable lunch. No quiet time built into the day. Just noise and heat and people and choices from the time they wake up until they crash.
Some kids handle that fine. Others fall apart by 2pm.
When a kid melts down after a full day of fun, parents are confused. It was a good day. Why is this happening. Because good and calm are not the same thing.
A birthday party, a pool, a cookout, a sleepover — every one of those takes something from a kid who already has a full tank. Overstimulation looks like aggression. It looks like crying over nothing. It looks like shutting down completely.
It is not defiance. It is a nervous system that hit its limit.
If your child falls apart regularly in summer and you can't figure out why, that pattern is worth paying attention to.
