Dads Are Doing More Than Anyone Gives Them Credit For

Nobody talks about the dads who are just there. Not the ones on the news. Not the ones in the commercials. The ones who drive to the school pickup every day and sit through the hard homework nights and show up to the appointment even when they don't totally understand what the appointment is for.

That's most dads. And most of them never hear that it's enough.

Fathers in behavioral health situations often feel like outsiders. The system talks to moms. The paperwork goes to moms. The calls from school go to moms. Dads who want to be involved sometimes don't know how to get in the door.

That matters. Kids with behavioral and emotional health needs do better when both parents are present and informed. Not perfect. Present.

If you're a dad trying to figure out how to help your kid and not sure where to start, that's the right instinct. The fact that you're looking means something.
