You're Exhausted and Summer Isn't Over

You are halfway through summer and you are tired.
Not the kind of tired a nap fixes. The kind that comes from managing behavior all day while also working, keeping the house going, figuring out what everyone's eating, and trying not to lose it every time something escalates.
Nobody talks about parent burnout in July. But it's real.
Why this part of summer is the hardest
The first few weeks of summer you're still in adjustment mode. There's novelty. The kids are happy school is out. You're giving grace because it's early.
By week six or seven, that's all gone. The routine you tried to build has gotten sloppy. Your patience is thinner. Your kid is bored and restless and it all lands on you.
This is when most parents hit a wall.
What it can start to look like
You find yourself snapping at things that wouldn't have bothered you in May. You feel guilty after. You're dreading the next argument before it even starts. You're going through the motions and nothing feels sustainable.
That's not a character flaw. That's a person running on empty.
What helps right now
You need something that belongs to you. Not a task. Not something you're doing for someone else. Something that gives you a small amount of relief, even for 20 minutes.
You also need to stop pretending everything is fine when it isn't. If you're struggling, saying it out loud to someone you trust matters more than you might think.
And if your child's behavior is what's wearing you out, getting support for them is also getting support for you.
